To travel to Meghamalai
Meghamalai Trip review

Meghamalai
In my trip to Meghamalai was very memorable, this is my review of Meghamalai. It is sure a virgin hill station which is still to be exploited by Tourist. Misty Mountains, Green carpeted Landscape, Five Dams, Lakes and fresh-water bodies and Aroma of Nature……… it is for sure an Unseen, Unpolluted, Unflocked Nature wonder with serenity and tranquillity. However, this is still a developing tourist destination, which has some hurdles and challenges. We have to be prepared to overcome it. My detailed analysis for the fellow travellers below.
The name Meghamalai means cloudy mountain in Tamil, the place is true its name. As soon as you get to the top of the hills the misty mountain welcomes you.
Travel / Road :
It is better to be travelled in SUV, MUV or a Jeep type of Vehicle. We travelled in Mahindra TUV, even that was a challenge. Avoid travelling by small Car, sedan or salon. The roads are messy, and construction works are going on. If it rains the roads get muddy and damp. Making it difficult for small cars to sail through. We got stuck in couple f places because of the muddy land. Nevertheless, the road construction is going on. Hopefully, by 6 months it should be completed.
Food to eat in Meghamalai: In my trip to Meghamalai I was prepared not to expect a fancy restaurant or hotel. There is only 2 small petty Tea shop, which also serves lunch and dinner, I mean really very small ( with a couple of benches and 2 or 3 chairs) Basic south Indian meals only for Lunch.
Hotels in Meghamalai: While planning my trip to Meghamalai I wanted to book the accommodation well in advance, I found that there are 3 option 1) Briar Tea Bungalow ( Company Guest House) this is the only posh place you spot there. However, come with a huge cost. They also have an in-house restaurant only for those who are staying.
2) & 3) Panchayat Guest House & Forest Guest House: Both have to be booked in advance, they have limited accommodation. However very very reasonable and very very basic.
Sightseeing: After the one hell of a road trip when you reach Top, the entire place is a one huge picnic spot. It has 5 Dams and couple of View Points. Full of Tea plantation, forest area.
Overall, my trip to Meghamalai is very green in my mind, it is a place worth a visit for free-spirited travellers, who love unexploited nature. Must see the place in Tamilnadu. But be prepared.
